The Importance of Product Photography

As we have discussed in a previous article, good product photography is vital in creating a catalogue. Indeed, a well-composed and well-shot product photo can mean the difference between a purchase and a pass.

Here are a few pointers on what makes a good product photo:

The photo must tell the story behind the product. Believe it or not there are some people who don’t even pay much attention to the product description, thus the need to put extra emphasis on coming up with a great photo.

Present your product in the most enticing way possible. Product photography can make an old junk look in A1 condition when posted on a buy and sell website. In fact it can even make it look even better than advertised.

catalogue, you need not be an expert to come up with high level shots. A good knowledge of lighting and composition is all you need. After all, you aren’t going for anything fancy so technical proficiency isn’t much of a requirement. As long as you are able to present your products well, you are on the right track.

Remember that a good description should go with the product photo. Allow us to touch into the catalogue (we will allot an entire article for this so be sure you keep to this website) a bit. It is very important that the photos are complimented by a good description. Keep in mind that sure buyers will not pass up on reading it.

If you insist on hiring a professional photographer, then by all means go ahead and do so. In one of the future articles we will discuss the pros and cons of acquiring the services of a skilled photographer.
