Trendy Before is Trendy Again

While it used to be for the past decades that wholesale sunglasses are a thing of the past and contact lenses have taken over, the trend has been reversed for the past few years. Wearing eyewear is back in style, thanks to the perpetual trending of sunglasses and people adhering to “geek chic,” a look in which fashionistas think they’re cool and fashionable to look very smart, which means eyewear is pretty much a staple in fashion.

Whereas in the past, eyewear is regarded as unflattering because of its bulk and there were only limited styles to sunglasses available, nowadays, there are quite a lot of kinds and designs to choose from. Before, sunglasses only had black frames, but nowadays, it’s not true anymore with so many colors! Instead of feeling inferior because of wearing glasses, women are now eager to choose what design of glasses they can wear. So now, glasses are cool and designers are wasting no time in devising frames and designs for the fashion conscious.

Here are a few trends from New York's Fashion Week 2014 that, if we are to follow, would mean fashionable eyewear for us this year. To think they have been the craze in the past!

The Return of the Cat Eye

Remember those glasses with frames where the edges go up, like the eyes of a cat? You may have seen this design of wholesale sunglasses on old pictures of mom and dad in the 1960s, or movies of that era. Well, that design is back! The twist with this design for 2014 is the frames come in bolder colors, and in some cases, the rims and temples are in different shades. In some cases, the left rim and right rim come in different colors!

Chunky’s Better

Speaking of retro styles, there’s another design element in sunglasses that’s reported to be back not only on the runway but on the streets: chunky and bold frames. Back then, fashionable people claim they would rather not step outdoors than be seen with such clunky eyewear. Nowadays, the chunkier and the louder the colors, the better!
