Sunglasses Store Tips: Designing Your Window Display

Your store’s window display is your first line of communication with potential customers. To draw them in and hopefully incite a purchase decision, you want a window display that intrigues people like a TMZ headline.

No, really.

A little visual merchandising smarts would definitely go a long way, but really, all you need is follow the simple tips on this article. That said, it is important to note that designing your window display is as vital as knowing where to get the best deals on wholesale sunglasses.

Less is more

This old adage certainly works for window displays. When you are advised to make the most out of your window display, that doesn’t mean you have to fill every empty spot in the display. A cluttered window display is unsightly and will likely put people off.

Stick to your theme

Without a theme to speak of, you are not attracting focus. For example, if you also sell clothes, don’t make the mistake of mixing your fall collection of sunglasses with winter clothing. Halloween, Holidays, Love month, Sporty theme, Back-to-school promo – think of a theme and stick to it so as not to confuse potential customers.

As an added tip to encourage focus, put up a wall as a backdrop so people are drawn to the items on display. Also, you may want to add lights to illuminate the items or a specific item.

Remember: the display is three-dimensional

Some store owners place items only on the floor. This way, you are not taking advantage of your display space. Arranging items at varying depths and elevations will make the entire display more interesting. You can pull this off by hanging some items and placing a table to display the others. Large-sized posters and LED displays will also work for specific themes (read: don’t overdo it).

Arrange regularly

Do motorists and passersby (aka potential customers) a favor and change your display regularly. Remember to keep it clean at all times, too. A once a month makeover is a good idea so there is always something fresh to see.

If you have enough funding, then by all means get the services of a window display designer. But the thing is, you can save a lot by doing it on your own. That’s money you can allocate to other important things. Who knows it may even open doors for a side career?

Just don’t go working for other sunglasses stores.
